Frequently Asked Questions
What are business days?
Business days (also called working days or weekdays) are Monday through Friday, excluding weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and optionally public holidays.
Which holidays are excluded?
When enabled, the calculator excludes US federal holidays including New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
How are holiday weekends handled?
If a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, it's observed on Friday. If it falls on a Sunday, it's observed on Monday. The calculator uses these observed dates.
Can I calculate backwards?
Yes! In "Add business days" mode, you can enter a negative number to subtract business days from your start date.
Is the start date included in the count?
Yes, both the start and end dates are included in the business days count if they are business days themselves.
